We most definitely have blood on our hands. Humans simply haven’t evolved enough to be able to solve problems without resorting to violence. We’re basically cavemen with cell phones. The gap between our technological and social advancements is widening by the minute. That’s a very dangerous gap. We have a long and sordid history of violent coercion and most likely a grim future as well. That knowledge doesn’t make me feel more at home, however, nor does it change my mind that humans are facing world problems that demand a better problem-solving skill set. Less competition and more cooperation, collaboration, diplomacy and the open sourcing of creative ideas are needed. Still, I don’t expect to ever feel completely at home.
