Unfortunately, during critical political times when fascism rears its ugly head and dictators appear to be saviors, liberals are forced to stop fighting for progress and instead fight against regression. Before Franco took over Spain, there were plenty Of Spaniards who opposed him. Unfortunately, these various factions disagreed on other ideological points and weren’t able to unite successfully. Whereas Franco’s party was highly successful at uniting and ultimately that gave them the power and strength to clinch the deal. For the next 35 years, not only did liberal social progress come to a screeching halt but Spain regressed. Ever notice how quickly we can lose everything that we’ve gained over the last 100 years? In the blink of an eye the domino effect sweeps it all away and suddenly we find ourselves back in the dark ages. But people don’t understand this. That’s why during the year leading up to Trump’s win , Democrats attempted to rebuild and restructure their own party and became divided. For some reason or other they did not fully understand the dangers of having Trump win the election. It was the most significant election year of my entire life. We still haven’t recovered. The party bolstering a demagogue, historically masters the art of unification and that one fact alone gives them victory. Republicans know how to unite! Dems ? Not so much.
