The World is Trending Far Right and That Means Climate Change Will Not Be Addressed

The climate change dilemma is the single most important challenge of our lives. Everything else is dependent on what we do or don’t do about climate change — TODAY! The economies of the world, equity issues, social progress, housing problems, health care, education and just about any problem that I can think of will be exacerbated by climate change.

In other words, we can’t truly fix anything without first addressing climate change. That’s an undeniable fact. Mother Nature is bigger than us no matter how proud we are of our big brains.

There’s a strong possibility, however, that the climate change challenge is too big for most humans to get their big brains around and too demanding for leaders to successfully mandate solutions. Trust me, if we want to change things, we’ll have to mandate change and humans don’t generally respond well to mandates.

To tell you the truth, I’m not sure we even know how best to combat the situation.

However, if Republicans and most other fascist wannabe political leaders across the world win the upcoming elections — make no mistake about it, we are a world trending far right—then we’ll lose the battle before we’ve even engaged in the battle.

You can’t have climate change DENIERS in office anywhere in the world and expect them to contribute solutions to this problem.

In the U.S., Democrats need to make climate change their abortion issue and then focus on little else. We need to become a single issue party, no more divisiveness between us.

Why?

We are the party that believes in science. We’re it! There is no one else who will deal with it, because they don’t even believe it exists.

This is what we face whether we’re far left, far right, a centrist, an Ayn Rand fan, a communist, a socialist, an anarchist or any other ism or ist polluting the world with our industrialized personal practices.

Until we can unite, I’d say, start preparing yourself for increasingly difficult climate conditions.

Many won’t because they’ll live in denial until the ship goes down. Others can’t because they’re cash strapped and too in debt. A few will do what little they can by moving to areas where fires, floods, and droughts may be less severe.

All humans will be forced to deal with what’s coming eventually.

When it lands on their doorstep, when they no longer can insure their houses, when they turn on the faucet and nothing comes out, when their houses are burned to the ground, when the new prime properties are too expensive to buy, then we’ll see a call for action. Because humans aren’t wired to deal with long range problems. They’re better equipped to face the wolf when he’s on their doorstep.

What else can we do?

We can’t do much of anything except fight to keep right wing fascists out of positions of power one state, one country, and one business at a time. If we get distracted by other issues and refuse to unite against climate change deniers, then they’ll win.

Make no mistake about it, they’ll unite around THEIR one issue and WIN.
