The right understands unity. They huddle around a handful of issues and unite to win. The left is the party of a hundred issues and becomes splintered and divided weakening their power to capture a win. It’s Spain and the Franco regime coming into power all over again. And yes, this is a western world dilemma not just an American catastrophe. If we proceed according to the way things played out in the past, we’re going to not only fail to progress but we’re also going to lose most of the gains made in the 20th century. Regression like an avalanche moves swiftly. Then, history tells us, we’ll spend at least 30 years stuck in a quagmire while longing for the way things used to be.
