The Monkeypox Warning is Already Pissing People Off
Information is a Good Thing. The Dark Ages Wasn’t a Fun Era.
I have a few thoughts to share with my American peers in regard to the recent monkeypox warning and all the anger I’m already starting to see online.
If the shoe fits elsewhere in the world, then you’re welcome to my thoughts as well. So, here goes …
- The WHO does not care about American elections. Contrary to popular opinion, America is not the center of the universe.
- Information is a good thing. It’s one of the benefits of living in a technologically advanced world. So, use it to make good decisions. The Dark Ages was not a fun era.
- At this time, monkeypox should be monitored worldwide. Be glad someone is keeping an eye on situations like this. It’s another benefit of living in technologically advanced times.
- Of course, the more we know, the more responsibility we have. Unfortunately, a lot of people find that irksome. That’s why the good-old days often hold such appeal. It was easier to be let off the hook if nobody knew anything. When I look back on my own childhood, it feels like I lived in an episode of the Little House on the Prairie. (1800s)
- Finally, life isn’t a walk in the park. While you’re eating a MacDonald’s burger in your car with the AC turned on, don’t allow your level of convenience and comfort to convince you that you deserve the current lifestyle. There are lots of people in the world who walk miles every day to collect a jug of water.
Buck up, cowboys.
This is what we bargained for when we were brought into this world — monkeypox, COVID, war, and stress. Life is one problem after another requiring our attention to survive. It is what it is. My goodness, humans have been through horrible things for centuries. Getting mad about good information is kinda silly. You’ve got an advantage that most of your ancestors never had.
Use it!
