My philosophy or strategy whatever you call it has always been to live totally debt-free with lowest overhead possible. I have never lost a penny in any of the recessions that I’ve endured and I’m now 71 years old. I am very very risk adverse. However, I keep my cash close in local banks rather than big banks. I always keep some cash even closer than that. And I bury the rest in the ground. By that I mean, I buy land preferably land that is located in regions that are being predicted to be the new prime properties of the future. Believe it or not most scientists pretty well agree that in the United States those properties are going to be located above the 45th parallel due to climate change. So that’s my plan in a nutshell. Own everything, keep overhead low, and if I’ve got any money left over invest in the future prime properties.
