The American Gauge for EVERYTHING!

My photo

Money makes the world go round.

Money definitely makes America go round and round and round. It is the number one motivator, as well as the only gauge we have for a life well-lived. You can never have too much money. If you have lots of money, you can just about do anything you please.

Why, you could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue, and people would still love you.

You get the prettiest women, the best legal representation, and you can buy a politician or two. It’s everything a Christian nation aspires to be because God loves money, too.

Could our greed place some limitations on increasing our money. Take, for instance, the current drive to destroy the middle class by robbing them of their share of wealth. I mean, let’s face it: a handful of billionaires own the lion’s share of wealth in this country.

Who needs a middle class any longer?

I came up with an idea a few days ago that might work, except the middle class can’t unite to save their own asses. What would happen, however, if every American across the country agreed to ban Xmas? Think about it. If no one bought any Xmas presents, decorations, or even special foods, do you think the wealthy would miss Santa Claus?

Xmas is notoriously touted as the season of big returns, large profits, and considerable debt — all of which the rich benefit from immensely.

So why not deprive them of their favorite season? You know what I mean. Don’t spend a penny on pretty wrapping paper, Xmas turkeys, Nintendo games, presents for the pets, airline tickets to Grandma’s, strings of lights, that special piece of jewelry for the love of your life, all the stuff, all the massive amounts of stuff that go on your credit cards.

Refuse it all!

C’mon. What’s one little year of sacrifice if we can teach the bastards a lesson — a very important one indeed? Ho, ho, ho! Without us, your money dries up and blows away. That’s how much we matter.

Yep! It’s a strange concept, but we just might play an important role in our ever-expanding economy. We might be the most important piece. Without us spending our money — even going into debt — that constant flow of what’s ours filling the pockets of the rich would dry up, and the economy would shrink.

Ouch!

What would happen if we discovered that we really don’t need all the stuff we’ve been told we need to be happy? Maybe we’d not only spend nothing at Xmas but also refuse to spend indiscriminately all year long. Maybe we’d pay off our credit cards and find out what it’s like to sleep at night without worrying about our next paycheck.

Naw! It’s just a silly dream.

Nobody’s going to join a national protest that denies the importance of Xmas. I mean, even Jesus loves Xmas, even though he’s been forced to share the limelight with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and a band of merry reindeer. Nobody would endorse this plan, no matter how much we’d like to teach the oligarchs a lesson. How do I know this?

Hot off the press comes this message:

“Holiday spending in 2024 is expected to break records. The National Retail Federation (NRF) predicts that total holiday spending will be between $979.5 billion and $989 billion, which is a 3% increase from 2023.” Apparently, even though we struggle to afford eggs, Xmas is going to provide massive profits for a few people this year.

Should they thank Jesus?
