Just about everything that I need to survive falls along a 1 mile stretch from my house. My dentist, doctor, post office, grocery store, gas stations, coffee shop, restaurants, target, and much more. I don’t think I could walk that busy street Easily but as long as I can drive my car which I hope to be able to do well into old age I’m not gonna be using much gas. However, the charm of the little mom and pop stores is lacking on this 1 mile stretch. In Spain, I literally walk everywhere even for groceries. Some of the streets don’t even allow cars so it’s extremely pedestrian friendly. Spaniards tend to shop more on a daily basis which is something I had to get used to but now I rather like it. Also, there are loads of little shops owned and run by families and so I really feel like I’m contributing to the local economy.
