I've been working on living a more sustainable life for a long while. My purpose is largely as a means of preparedness for what I think is coming. More is less is my motto.

We've long known that innovators have the means to produce products that could last for years and years but instead build with planned obsolescence in mind. As our trash heaps grow, we just keep throwing stuff out and buying new and improved.

One big problem is that the rich usually model a lifestyle of opulence and they're our role models. Who needs more than one house? The rich. Even Obama flew to his Hawaiian residence after encouraging the rest of us to stay home because of COVID. As long as our role models are indulging, that will remain the gold standard.
