I wholeheartedly believe that the quest to find romance and then the expectation to keep it burning bright is making it less likely that we’ll have time to develop strong and enduring friendships. What so many fail to understand is that romantic relationships are largely based on chemistry whereas love is what sustains all longterm relationships. It’s the bit we have after the chase settles down. That can include a wide range of possible relationships which will sustain us well into old age.
