I think kids today are expected to deal with Way more than kids in the past. The divorce rate alone ensures that children are going to live through many years of mom and dad‘s boyfriends and girlfriends, mixed families, at least two different dwellings, and all the making up and breaking up. Kids are so resilient. They push through all that stuff. Their own parents wouldn’t survive a decade or more of living between two different houses. I think you’re talking about a very small segment of the population, very privileged kids who have parents that are completely child centered but hey even dogs in those families have it better than a lot of kids did back when I was a kid.
