I recently bought land in the Upper Peninsula. I live just across the the northeastern Indiana border and can easily cross the Mackinac Bridge in 5 hours. I doubt that I'll build on it. My intentions were to gift it to my only grandchild one day as many are predicting this region to be somewhat less affected by climate change in the future. If I were a little younger, I'd build there, but that's not an option now. However, I write about attaining a measure of self reliance no matter where you live and strive to make that possible in my own life. We lived for 32 years in the woods of central Maine. I've had lots of practice.
