I heated solely with wood while I lived in my house as we were building it for five years. We were at the end of a gravel road that turned into a logging trail running three miles through the woods behind our house. That was in rural Maine many years ago where it was common for poor people like my husband and I to hunt for food to add to the table, split five cords of wood for the winter, and get by on a small amount of money. It made us strong. It was hard but we have so many fond memories. You can do this and each year that passes it will get easier.
