I agree with you. Very few are wearing a mask in my town. I put on my mask whenever I 'm indoors around strangers. It's a Kn95. I don't intend at this point to stop.
I am experiencing cabin fever right now, however, and need to have the weather get warm and sunny so that I can spend more time outside. It's beginning to wear on me and I'm an introvert who enjoys solitude.
As near as I can tell, most people can't endure isolation. It's not a question of won't. It's a question of can't. I just don't believe that people will choose to isolate and mask on their own. Thus, as variants come and go, depending on the veracity, we'll continue to lose lives to COVID.
I try to take advantage of a few opportunities whenever the numbers are down and the variant is less potent while keenly aware that tomorrow everything could change.
It hard to accept that this is the new normal, but most likely it is. It's a bit too dystopian.
