Hi again! I’ve been wintering in Spain for 17 years and have witnessed many Semana Santa‘s. They are indeed a sight. Its interesting to note that Spain is far more secular than the United States. Where once the Catholic Church dominated the scene, it has become mostly a place for weddings and ceremonies or old women to congregate. However, their festivals and traditional celebrations are still deeply entrenched in their culture. Spaniards are very socially inclined and spend lots of time throughout the year outdoors together, drinking, eating, and enjoying festivities.
