Haha! An age old complaint made for centuries by people from a quickly fading society that eventually no longer exists. There’s lots of young people trying to save the world today — inventors, open minded, far more inclusive, hyper aware at a much younger age. Proportionally I suspect those with goals and those without are the same. Proportionally, I also suspect poor parenting is roughly the same. The biggest difference is that we know more today. When I look back on my young years it seems like the dark ages. American adults threw trash out their car windows as they traveled down Route 66 because they didn’t even recognize that the mess along route 66 was caused by them. It took a law to change that behavior. I grew up in Indiana where sports car racing was the thing. Sports car racers wore helmets and protective gear and seatbelts but no one ever thought that a two year old child with a developing brain might benefit from a car seat. Lots of kids died unnecessarily by hitting their heads against the dashboard of the windows of the car. The nice thing back then about losing your kid in that way was that you got to call it an accident. Just about everything was an accident and so although one might feel sad about the accident one never felt responsible for the accident. The truth is that the more you know the more responsibility you have. I suspect that’s why there are so many anxious people today. Knowledge is a double edged sword.
