Bridges or Walls?
Bridges or walls
One connects
one separates
One let’s you out
the other keeps you in
That’s what it’s all about
If you can live without
open doors and pathways
If you can embrace
unending, boring days
without adventures
If you can limit the ways
you view the world
then a provincial life
might suit you, my friend
but I’ll take bridges over walls
any day of the week
I’ll risk falling from grace
in order to roam free.

Author’s notes: Humans have been building walls for centuries. They tell us that it’s to keep “them” out but it also keeps “us” in.
