Actually, it depends where I am. Because I’ve been returning to Spain for many years, almost 20, I lease the same apartment over and over again. Often I use that apartment as a base and make short trips to other places either in Spain or neighboring countries like Portugal or France. Then it’s a tossup between hotels and Airbnb. I’m very partial to the privately owned mom and pop hotels in Spain as they are cheap and super clean. But I’ve used hotels a lot in other countries, largely because I can reserve a hotel and cancel it almost up to the last minute without losing money. I’d like to remain flexible rather than stick to a tight tight schedule.
